FAQs
For Students
Is Valueplacement free to use?
Yes — completely free. You will never be asked to pay anything to browse or apply for opportunities on this site.
Do I need to create an account?
No. You can browse every opportunity on the site without registering or providing any personal information. Simply visit, search and apply.
What types of opportunity are listed?
We list five types of opportunity, all based in Berkshire:
- Work Experience — short placements, typically one to two weeks, where you observe and learn alongside professionals
- Work Placements — longer structured placements, often forming part of your college course
- Part-Time Jobs — paid, flexible roles designed to fit around your studies
- Apprenticeships — paid, structured programmes combining work and study, leading to a nationally recognised qualification
- Volunteering — unpaid roles with charities, community groups, the NHS and local councils
Will my personal details be shared with employers?
No. Valueplacement does not collect, store or share student personal data with employers or any third party. When you apply for an opportunity, you contact the employer directly — Valueplacement is not involved in that process and receives no information from it. Please read our Privacy Policy for full details.
How do I apply for an opportunity?
Click on any listing to view the full details. Each opportunity includes an Apply button which will either take you directly to the employer’s website or open an email addressed to the right contact. The employer handles everything from that point onwards.
Is it safe to apply for opportunities on Valueplacement?
We carefully review every employer-submitted listing before it goes live and remove anything that raises concern. However, we strongly advise all students to speak to a parent, carer or college tutor before applying for any opportunity or attending any interview. Please read our full Safeguarding Commitment.
What does “AI-sourced” mean on some listings?
Some listings are generated automatically using AI to help build the platform while we grow. They are based on common employer types in Berkshire and are clearly labelled. Always confirm the details directly with the named organisation before applying.
Can I change how the site looks?
Yes. We have built in three accessibility tools at the top of every page:
- A+ — increases text size across the site
- Dy — switches to a dyslexia-friendly font
- ◑ — enables high contrast mode
Your preferences are saved automatically so the site will look the same way every time you visit.
Can my teacher or tutor use this site?
Absolutely — teachers, tutors and careers advisors are very welcome to use Valueplacement. You can filter opportunities by subject to find listings relevant to a specific course, making it easy to recommend relevant opportunities to students.
For Employers and Organisations
How much does it cost to list an opportunity?
Nothing at all. Posting on Valueplacement is completely free, with no hidden charges.
How do I post an opportunity?

Does Valueplacement share employer contact details with students?
Only the contact information you choose to include in your public listing — for example, an application email address or website link. No additional employer data is shared beyond what appears in your listing.
