About this apprenticeship

Responsibilities

To attend regularly and work diligently at Technical Classes approved by local education establishment.
To undertake training as identified by the company or his representatives to attain a level of tool maker competency.
To conform to all regulatory and legal requirements as pointed out by the company or his representatives.
To maintain a training log as evidence of competency.

Specific

To attain an Advanced Level 3 Apprenticeship.

To demonstrate competency in the following after training:

Operation, functionality and techniques of lathes.
Operation, functionality and techniques of Milling machines.
Operation, functionality and techniques of surface grinding machines.
Operation of Pillar drills and Band saw.
Techniques of bench fitting.
Press tooling repair and refurbishment within the limits of the tool room capabilities.
The manufacture and maintenance of electrodes and welding blocks.
Produce and repair manual-style welding jigs as requested.
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings for the manufacture of tooling.
With appropriate guidance comply with Norma’s Legal and Regulatory requirements.
Ensure Safety Regulations are adhered to at all times (i.e. safety shoes, safety glasses, ear protection where appropriate).
Ensure Environmental Regulations are adhered to at all times (i.e. recognised disposal of waste etc.
Ensure the company’s Quality Manual and Procedures are complied with.
Maintaining the companies Tooling Register and ensure proper control of issuing tooling.

Training

You will study your Level 3 Mechatronics Maintenance Technician Apprenticeship with Newbury College which is based in Newbury, Berkshire. You will be required to attend the college one day a week during term time. 
As well as the support of your work colleagues and lecturers, you will also have a Development Coach who will oversee your progress and will support you throughout the apprenticeship. They will also hold regular reviews with you and will occasionally observe you in the workplace. 
You will be required to take an End Point Assessment (EPA) at the end of your apprenticeship. Your Development Coach will support you with preparing for your assessment. 
At the end of your apprenticeship you will have completed the Level 3 Mechatronics Maintenance Technician Apprenticeship Standard.
