New This Term: 365 Gym in Reading Is Now Offering Placements for FE Students

We’re pleased to share some good news for students across several subject areas: 365 Gym, the 24-hour high-spec gym in Reading’s Meadway Shopping Centre, has partnered with Valueplacement to offer work placements for Berkshire FE students. And this isn’t a business-only opportunity — there are routes in for students studying sport, marketing, hospitality and more.

What’s on offer

There are four different placements listed on Valueplacement right now, each suited to a different course:

A T Level Industry Placement in Gym Operations and Business Administration, for students on the T Level in Management and Administration. This meets the government’s 315-hour minimum and can be delivered as day release across the year or in blocks, arranged through your college.

A Personal Training and Fitness Floor Assistant work experience placement, for BTEC Sport or similar students, shadowing PTs and instructors on the gym floor and in classes.

A Marketing and Social Media Assistant work experience placement, for students studying media, IT or business, helping create content and run social media for the gym.

A Front of House and Fresh Kitchen Assistant work experience placement, for Hospitality and Catering students, splitting time between reception and 365 Gym’s in-club kitchen, shadowing the chef.

For the three work experience placements, 365 Gym is flexible on structure — you can do a two-week block placement, or a staggered placement of one day a week over several weeks, whichever fits your course and timetable better.

Be honest with yourself: this is competitive

365 Gym is a popular, well-equipped venue, and they’ve told us they only have room for a small number of placement students each year. They review every application carefully and interview shortlisted students before confirming a place. So please don’t go in assuming you’ll get a spot just for applying — what actually makes the difference is showing genuine interest in the industry, being reliable, and coming across as professional from your very first message.

If that sounds daunting, it shouldn’t put you off applying — it just means it’s worth putting a bit of care into your application and, if you’re offered an interview, actually preparing for it.

How to apply

If you’re on a T Level and interested in the industry placement, speak to your course tutor or work placement coordinator first, since T Level industry placements are arranged formally between your college and the employer rather than applied for directly.
