About this apprenticeship

Install first‑fix cabling for fire alarm systems and life safety systems as directed by project drawings and supervisor instructions.Route cables through containment (trunking, conduit, tray, basket) ensuring neat, compliant, and obstruction‑free runs.Drill, fix, and secure cable routes using appropriate fixings, supports, and spacing in line with BS 7671 and BS 5839‑1 requirements.Identify and protect cable routes in live construction environments, maintaining segregation from other services (LV, HV, gas, water).Label and record cable runs for traceability and handover documentation.Report issues such as blocked routes, structural changes, missing containment, or clashes with other trades.Maintain site safety by following RAMS, wearing correct PPE, and adhering to site rules.Support second‑fix teams by ensuring cable tails, loops, and allowances are left correctly for device installation.Work collaboratively with electricians, fire alarm engineers, and site management to ensure smooth workflow and timely delivery.
